LAY MINISTRY AT ST. PHILIP'S SUNDAY SCHOOL & NURSERY: St. Philip's offers classes for children on Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m., beginning on September 11. We invite all children to come and learn about the Bible and the faith of the Church as taught by dedicated and willing teachers. A Nursery is also provided for infants, which is staffed by two adult volunteers each week. YOUTH GROUP: St. Philip's is part of Moncton Anglican Youth (MAY), a co-operative venture with the other Anglican Parishes in Moncton to provide a gathering for young people for fellowship, fun, spirituality, and community service. All young people of Middle and High School age are welcome to attend. For more information, please speak to the Rector. ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN of St. Philip's meets on the third Monday of each month. Meetings consist of a short Bible Study and devotional, business and fellowship. It will resume for the Fall on September 19, at 6:00 p.m. with a Pot-Luck Supper at the Rectory. New members are welcome! MEN'S GROUP holds a Supper Meeting on the first Thursday of each month. Meetings consist of a seasonal devotional, a speaker or work session, and fellowship. All men of the Parish are welcome to attend. Interested persons should inquire with John Moffat, Frank Goodwin, Paul Belyea, or the Rector. ST. PHILIP'S CHOIR is a mixed choir of men and women, under the direction of Don Moroz, sings at the 10:30 a.m. liturgy each week and at other Holy Days where music is required. The choir meets on Sunday after the 10:30 liturgy for practice and is open to new members. ALTAR GUILD is responsible for all preparations and care of the Altar and Sanctuary. Interested persons should speak to the Jeanice Betts, President. SERVER'S GUILD assist at the Altar as Lay Readers, crucifers, acolytes, and thurifers. Interested persons should inquire with Alan Taylor or the Rector. LECTORS assist in the Service by reading the lessons and intercessory prayers. Interested persons should inquire with Faith Reid or the Rector. GREETERS assist in the Service by greeting the people, distributing bulletins, receiving the offering, and making new comers welcome at Coffee Hour. COUNTERS assist by counting the offering and making the deposit after the Service. Interested persons should inquire with the Envelop Secretary or one of the Parish Wardens. HOSPITALITY is provided in the form of refreshments after the Sunday liturgy as well as at Parish receptions, as coordinated by the A.C.W. VESTRY is the governing body of the Parish Corporation. It consists of the Rector, Wardens, Treasurer, Vestry Clerk, and Vestry members. It is responsible for all matters of parish property and finance, as well as overseeing and facilitating the work of committees within the Parish. PROPERTY COMMITTEE is responsible for insuring that the church, rectory, and parish grounds all well maintained. They are responsible for seeing that maintenance list inspections are completed, prepare list of immediate and future needs with recommendations, supervise the work of the custodian and related responsibilities, as well as prepare budget needs and report to wardens and corporation. FINANCE COMMITTEE provide support to the Parish Treasurer and Envelope Secretary, develop annual budget, see that auditing and reporting process meet all legal and diocesan standards, monitor monthly income and expenditures and Parish insurances. They are responsible for stewardship and financial development, oversee administration of Electronic Offering System and the administration of Memorial Fund, as well as work with the Envelope Secretary to appoint, schedule, instruct and oversee counters. They report to wardens and corporation on a regular basis. PROGRAMME & FUND-RAISING COMMITTEE is responsible for organizing and coordinating programme for the life of the Parish, as well as scheduling and planning of Parish fund raising events and other special events. FELLOWSHIP & OUTREACH COMMITTEE is responsible for organizing monthly fellowship activities throughout the year to nurture a sense of family for youth, seniors, parents, families, and singles within the Parish and greater community. They participate in a weekly Breakfast programme and provide mittens and hats to children in need at Beaverbrook School. They also provide Christmas baskets for sick and shut-in members of the Parish, coordinate meals to families in need, oversee the Food Basket for the community Food Bank, visit shut-ins and new families, coordinate transportation needs, as well as supervise the distribution of Parish Newsletter. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE
work with the Rector to implement and evaluate Christian education
programmes which address the needs of all age groups within the parish,
encourage Bible study, assist with Confirmation, Baptism, and
pre-marriage preparation when necessary, enhance a greater awareness of
the Church as mission through such programmes as PWRDF and the Uganda
