The Reverend Kevin H. Borthwick The
Rev'd Kevin Borthwick is a native of New Brunswick and has been Rector
of St. Philip's since 1994. He was born and raised in St. George and
studied at the University of King's College, Halifax, Atlantic School
of Theology, Halifax, and Trinity College, Toronto. He was ordained
deacon in 1985 and priest in 1986 by the Most Reverend Harold L.
Nutter, Bishop of Fredericton. Following ordination; Fr. Borthwick was
appointed Assistant Curate in the Parish of Ludlow and Blissfield, a
four-point rural parish on the Miramichi River in central New
Brunswick, and served as Rector of that parish from 1988 to 1994. Since
coming to St. Philip's, Moncton; he has been the Anglican
Representative and Chair of the Pastoral Care Advisory Board of the
Moncton Hospital, a member of the On-Call Chaplaincy Team, and been a
member of the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Society for
Southeastern New Brunswick. Fr.
Borthwick has a special interest in preaching and liturgy, and has
extensive experience in visitation and crisis ministry to the sick,
dying, and bereaved. He has conducted numerous Bible studies, Alpha,
and forms of Christian education. He has been a member of the Board of
Camp Medley and taught at various St. Michael's Youth Conferences. During
his ministry at St. Philip's, much work has been done in the area
Parish Stewardship Development and long-range Parish planning. As a
result, St. Philip's has been able to undertake a number of major
renovation projects in the Church and construct a modern, energy
efficient Rectory. He
has also served as a member of Diocesan Council, the Diocesan Executive
Committee, the Board of Programme, Board of Finance, Property
Committee, and the Parish Support and Development Committee. Fr.
Borthwick is currently the Regional Dean of Shediac. Married
to Captain Cathy (Boyd) Borthwick of the Church Army, the Borthwicks
share the Rectory with their Scottish Terrier, Piper, and enjoy
spending time at their summer retreat overlooking the beautiful waters
of Oak Bay, New Brunswick.
